Polla del Duca farm
The Polla del Duca farm is located on the slopes of Montalbano, in Tuscany, and extends its green vineyards on the half-hill that surrounds Montemagno.
The production, active since 1890, takes place according to agricultural-artisan procedures that guarantee, together with the most modern controls, a traditional wine with superior characteristics.
The farm’s origins date back to the mid-nineteenth century when my great-grandfather obtained a liquidation from Count Amato-Cellesi for his work as butler at the Villa Medicea la Magia.
Born in Quarrata from sharecroppers, he managed to buy the farm in Montemagno, which had always been worked by his family.
With the help of his grandfather Giulio, he continued to cultivate vines and olive trees according to the traditional use of these parts of Tuscany. However, it was my father Giuseppe who gave the company the look it has today.
In fact, although he worked as a farmer for a short period of his life, he was able to learn as a young man the techniques that have been handed down from father to son for five generations, and returning from the Second World War, he greatly expanded the farm by purchasing the land.
Neighboring areas and a more modern cellar producing Chianti wine, equipped with a more capable vinsantaia.
The land is particularly suitable for the production of wine, oil and Vin Santo, in detail the company has always produced Chianti D.O.C.G. (formerly “Chianti Putto”), Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil D.O.P., and Vin Santo del Chianti D.O.C ..
The company has a vineyard area of 14 hectares, with an annual production of about 900 hectoliters and a cellar capacity of 1500 hectoliters.
