Wines of Italy

Italian wine is a fundamental food of Italian cuisine: renowned and precious, it is among the best in the world.

Italians drink it both with meals and outside meals. Even if the tradition of pouring wine and of wine seen in bulk or in demijohns has been lost a bit, wine remains the favorite drink of Italians to accompany a good dish or to be with friends.

In the peasant culture there is still the habit of dining with genuine homemade wines according to the best Italic traditions, instead of the more renowned and refined one sold in the bottle.

It was precisely the tradition in the winemaking of Italian producers that made Italy the leading nation in the world for the trade of this drink, both for quantity and above all for quality and variety. The wines reflect the variety of the Italian territory and culture, from the north, closer to Central European culture, to the south to Sicily, which has been influenced by the Arab culture.

Each region of Italy, in fact, has its own wine that represents it: from Barbera, Grignolino and Barolo Piemontese to Veneto whites; from Tuscan Chianti or Brunello di Montalcino to Aglianico del Vulture Lucano; from the Calabrian Cirò di Crotone to the Nero d’Avola or Passito di Pantelleria from the Sicily region.
