In Italy, the absence of a brewing tradition behind it, an element common to all emerging realities, has represented a double-edged sword: on the one hand it has allowed Italian brewers to experiment freely, since they are not bound by ancient consolidated production habits in centuries; on the other hand, however, it required a long running-in phase, necessary to acquire the right skills and be able to move with awareness between the various beer styles.
For this reason, Italian brewers are considered among the most creative in the world: over time some production lines have developed, which have been proposed several times as real beer styles of Italian origin.
In the early years of the Italian movement, for example, chestnut beers were widespread. Virtually every brewery proposed its version, following different techniques: the fruit was used as flour, in the form of roasted chestnuts, as chestnut honey or dried whole. The fashion lasted a few years, then quickly waned in favor of styles that were more appealing to the general public.
Italy is, therefore, a rapidly growing beer nation, albeit relatively young. In just over twenty years she has been able to build a dynamic and intriguing scene, which fascinates fans from all over the world. Beer is therefore also part of the made in Italy that many want to copy.
